Adventures With Christmas Trees

Last Thanksgiving Mike, the girls & I stayed the overnight at Mike & Allison's.  Instead of hitting the stores early for Black Friday sales like most people, we went to Ergle's Tree Farm to pick out our family Christmas trees.  It was our first year having a real tree and we loved it.  (Here's a peek at last year's trip.)  An artificial tree just isn't the same!  This year as Thanksgiving approached, we knew we definitely wanted to go to Ergle's for another fresh tree.  I'm pretty sure this is a holiday tradition that we'll share with the Perneckys for years to come.  :)

Mike & Allison had a full house Thanksgiving night and then after breakfast Friday morning, we hit the road!!

The kids had a great time exploring... Florida pines are pretty BUT they aren't the kind of Christmas trees we grew up with... 

Now... these are more like it!  Frasier Firs?!  Yes please!

We have great taste, we picked out two of the prettiest trees they had.

Mission Accomplished!

After our Christmas trees were loaded we got on the road for Mike's Grandma's.  She actually lives 2 hours & 15 minutes away from our house, but she's only 45 minutes from Ergle's Tree Farm.  Grandma is moving to Chicago next week, so this was the perfect opportunity to visit with her before she leaves.

Lauren, Gregg & my Dad-in-Law skipped Ergle's and went straight to Grandma's.   

 

I don't know who's sillier, Uncle Mike, Cam or my crazy girls!?

We had a nice afternoon with Grandma.  We had lunch together and I think she really enjoyed spending time with her grandkids & great-grandkids!  Grandma's a little stressed about moving but we trust that she'll be happy... and hopefully our extended family in Chicago take good care of her and keep her busy.
