What A Chore!

Every Spring and Fall it's a chore to organize the girls' closet and dressers for a new season. Part of this chore is going through 6 58qt bins of stored clothes (+ a 7th bin for shoes) that I keep in the garage. One of the benefits of having children of the same gender is hand-me-downs! I kept 85% of Maddy's clothes in the chance that our 2nd baby would be a girl. What a blessing this has been! With every new season and size I have had an abundance of clothes in great condition to help build Mikayla's wardrobe! Madelyn, the first born of course ALWAYS needs clothes but at least with Mikayla I never need as much.

Monday, I packed away everything that the girls have outgrown, disposed the clothes that were looking shabby and washed everything that Mikayla can wear through the next 6-12 months. This is what I found:

5 pairs of pajamas
5 nightgowns
1 hooded heavy sweater
2 hooded jackets, one heavier than the other
1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of khakis
3 long sleeve shirts
1 Christmas dress &
3 pairs of shoes (from bin #7)

The bins were a bit of wreck when I started, so I took the extra time to refold and make sure everything was correctly sized.

Also, in my unwavering attachment to my girls' baby clothes I have kept way too much, more than a 3rd baby girl would ever need. (hypothetically, if we did have another) 40% of these outfits, sleepers and onesies had persistent stains that would not wash out so I finally let go of what needed to be let go. In the end, everything that needed to be stored fit nicely back into my 6 58qt bins with a bit of room to spare. This was a BIG accomplishment in addition to getting the girls closet and dressers organized for the cooler Fall/Winter season.
