I love holidays but this summer it's been one busy event after another. Independence Day weekend all I wanted to do was relax! I was thrilled when our friends Sarah & Mike invited us for a cookout, I brought my famous pasta salad, some brownies & the girls' swimsuits. As much as I like hosting cookouts & get-togethers it's nice being a guest too.
Sarah & Mike have a big backyard, a sunny grassy side where they had a slip n slide set up, and a shady mossy side where they have a swing set, a trampoline, a screened gazebo & room for cornhole.
As if the kids didn't have enough to keep them busy, Sarah filled a whole cooler with water balloons too.
Maddy & Gavin love gaming & music, they were our DJs for most the afternoon!
When it got dark we cracked some glosticks & lit some sparklers with the kids. Unfortunately, our fireworks display was limited to fountains. Sarah & Mike's property & cul-de-sac is cluttered with big oak trees so lighting off anything big would have been dangerous. Safety first!
Mike & Mike
Oooo Ahhh! LoL! It was fun night!
The next day, Mike & I were just going to spend some time at my Dad & StepMom's pool. We haven't seen much of our best friends Jackie & Brad this summer because they have a new baby! When we found out J & B were going to be in the neighborhood we insisted that they come hang out with us for a while, especially since they missed Sarah & Mike's cookout!
Little Cameron was only 1 month old in this picture and look at that big happy smile!
Little Cameron K is a doll, and I still have to touch. I walked him, patted his bum and put him right to sleep! :)
He just loved Mike's hat, Cameron was seeing RED!
Brad & Mike got in to pool with kids, Mikayla & Conner are the reining chicken fighting champions!
Our best friends didn't stay long because they had another family cookout to attend but we were so happy to spend some QT with them, even if it was just for a few hours.
After Jackie & Brad left, a wicked storm rolled in. We left my Dad & StepMom's house and came back to ours. The rain eventually passed and as soon as the sun set the neighborhood fireworks began. Our neighbors don't decorate much for Christmas or Halloween but they sure go all out for the 4th of July! Every year (if we're home) we have a 360* fireworks display... we don't have to sit in traffic, fight crowds and it doesn't cost us anything! WINNING!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!
