This past Saturday, our Madelyn turned 8 years old. Mike & I can hardly believe our 7 lbs 12 oz baby girl is growing up so fast!
We definitely wanted to do something fun but relaxing for the day. The local Sarasota YMCA water park just opened for summer and the girls have been dying to go, what better time to go than Maddy's Birthday...
Luckily our best friends were able to join us. The kids love taking pictures together as long as they can make silly faces!
When we visit the Y, we also have access to the olympic pool & dive pool! Mike couldn't wait to go off the high dive!
The girls can swim, but not strong enough yet. They can swim in the pool with life vests, which they had fun with!
Maddy who is normally apprehensive in the deep end, had no qualms about the Y pool!
Maddy & Mikayla raced! It was a tie!

After a few hours at the water park, we went home to have dinner, cupcakes & open presents. I made Maddy's favorite, pulled pork & the cupcakes were chocolate! Mmm Mmm!
I found the cutest girly cupcakes that had butterfly rings on them! They matched our Dollar store birthday banner, plates & balloon perfectly!
Maddy is definitely growing up, the only toys that she is still into are Barbies. So we gave her a Barbie Cruise Ship, that came with all kinds of fun accessories. We also gave her a Pinkalicious DSi game based on the best selling book, some new clothes & an mp3 player!
It was a great day but of course it went by way too fast... good thing the festivities continued the next day for Mother's Day. 8 years ago when Maddy was born, she arrived 3 days before Mother's Day. It's wonderful celebrating these two special days so closely every year. Funny thing too, Mikayla's Birthday is also approaching. Hers falls right before Father's Day. :)
